About this coffee :

The Hambela woreda is located just over 400 km south of Addis Ababa in the Oromo region, in the Guji appellation. It is dominated by a largely forested landscape of old growth and mixed species.

The Metad Group has several coffee production and collection areas in this area. The group works with more than 3,200 farmers, spread over 7 villages. All of them work manually on small, densely wooded plots at an altitude of about 2000 m. The conservation of this natural heritage, which adds to the qualities of the coffee produced here, is an issue to which both Metad and Belco teams are very sensitive.

Ensuring the maintenance of this environment means above all protecting the peasant know-how that shapes it. To ensure the maintenance of this ecological diversity, the group has distributed more than 600,000 plants free of charge to the farmers with whom it works.

In addition, Metad is very concretely involved in aspects of ecological protection and in social projects. The group supports, for example, the organic certification of farmers, and finances the construction of roads and schools. Together with the quality of the coffee produced here, these approaches have led Belco to complete its range with coffees from Hambela.

You can expect to find fruity notes of strawberry, peach & mango, with an excellent orange blossom floral and clean finish. Expect a clean but distinct profile from this exceptional coffee with a distinct cantaloupe-like sweetness.
