The Story:

Meet Bekele Kechara, a distinguished smallholder farmer from Murago, Ethiopia, whose unwavering commitment to quality has earned him a prominent place among Ethiopia's finest coffee producers. Introduced to us through his close friend, Bekele Yutute, Bekele is part of the esteemed group of smallholders that Crop to Cup has proudly partnered with since the country’s agricultural reforms allowed direct exports by smallholder farmers.

At 2,350 meters above sea level, Bekele’s farm has become a source of exceptional coffee, earning 15th place in the prestigious Cup of Excellence in 2022. A dedicated father of 11, Bekele now works closely with his eldest son, Belaye, who oversees the family’s drying station. Together, they produce exquisite natural and anaerobic natural coffees, showcasing the rich heritage and innovation of Ethiopian coffee cultivation.
