About this coffee :

Nyeri is located on the slopes of Mount Kenya and together with the neighbouring region Kirinyaga it’s known for coffees with the most intense, complex, and flavour-dense cup profiles worldwide.

The Nyanja Cooperative and Treatment Plant is one of the 12 cooperatives under the "Baragwi Farmers Cooperative Association". The entire association has 16,000 members.

Compared with other Kenyan treatment plants that only use cement to build, the association's treatment plants are covered with tiles on the washing channels in the plant, which is less prone to dirt, better clean, and can ensure better quality.

Coffee farmers here are determined to improve production to supplement a troubled and failing sugar industry plagued with insurmountable debts and old infrastructure. That said, there is a great focus on sustainability as farmers compete with their peers in Central Kenya where most renowned coffees have generally been produced.

As a testament to their dedication, members produce about 40 tons of red ripe cherries on the 80 plus hectares of farmland located on the southeastern slopes of Mount. Elgon. Here, coffees enjoy plenty of rainfall, relatively warm weather and mineral rich volcanic soils that leave a distinct hallmark in flavor!

This coffee has lots of classic aromatics of SL28 & SL34, with fruity notes of blackcurrant & cranberry, finish with an orange peel zesty finish. A very juicy and bright coffee that makes a lovely afternoon cuppa.
