About this coffee :

The Don Joel micromill is owned by Allan Oviedo Rodriguez and his family. It's right on the border between the Central and Western valleys in Costa Rica, and Allan has been producing coffee in the area for eighteen years. Growing up in a coffee family, Allan learnt the traditional producing methods with his father (Don Joel) and brothers.

Like many producers in Costa Rica, Allan works in a semi-organic way. He reduces the use of sprays as much as possible. One of the tricks he uses is to create his own fertiliser: he uses native microorganisms to create a base before including some trace nutrients for the plants, and he can then spray the mixture onto the plants.

This batch is a Kenyan SL28 variety of Finca Nacho, which is unique the wild, colourful and diverse flavours of the African land are transplanted to Costa Rica’s West Valley, the coffee flavour preserves the original thick taste and charming sweet aroma.

Through the Don Joel Mill, the self-built honey processing plant was activated to fully inheriting the meticulous production technology of the micro-batch processing plant in Costa Rica, Allan inherits the family Entrepreneurship, able to master the refinement of each stage of production and produce high-quality coffee.

In this West Valley, the Villa Sarchi variety is a very common coffee tree species, but its the flavour and Kenya's SL28 variety have their own characteristics, especially the unique blackcurrant flavour of Kenya Still, it has a rich fruity floral fragrance, strong and elegant sweetness, charming fruity sweetness, long-lasting aftertaste and it is definitely worth a try. 

This is white honey processed where 80-90% of the mucilage is removed on the bean. Coffee beans are dried on raised beds in direct sun and dry quickly in the intense heat and parchment becomes white in colour.

As a result, you'll get a delightful fruity cuppa with blackberries & prune sweetness cuppa, pair with orange & grapefruit vibrant mouthfeel. A delightful coffee perfect for hot afternoon.
