About This Coffee

Las Perlitas, the "little pearls," is a Colombian sourcing project with a clever idea at its heart: many exceptional Colombian coffees are grown in volumes too small to export on their own. Stephen of The Coffee Quest seeks out these tiny, high-quality lots and unites them into a single, cohesive coffee that punches far above its size.

Lot 6 is a standout iteration, built on a powerhouse line-up of varieties: pink bourbon, caturra, geisha and a touch of aruzi. The washed process keeps everything clean and transparent, letting the nectarine, tart red plum and subtle guava notes come through with clarity. A long-time customer favourite, Perlitas is back on the menu, roasted fresh in Kuala Lumpur.

How to Brew Colombia Las Perlitas

Filter
Brewing ratio 1 : 17
Ground coffee 16g
Total water 250ml
Water temperature 93°C
Brew time 3 minutes

Taste as you dial in: if the cup feels sharp or thin, grind a touch finer; if it turns bitter or dry, grind coarser. Small steps make a big difference with a delicate washed coffee like this.

How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?

Brewing filter at around 15g per cup, a 250g bag makes roughly 16 cups and a 1kg bag makes about 65 cups. That's a long run of bright, fruit-forward pour-overs from a genuinely rare, small-lot Colombian coffee, plus plenty of room to experiment with cold brew.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this coffee better for filter or espresso?
Filter, hands down. As a light, washed single origin it's built for pour-over and batch brew, where its nectarine and red-plum clarity really sings. It also makes a fabulous cold coffee.

What does Colombia Las Perlitas taste like?
Juicy and fruit-forward: nectarine and tart red plum up front, with a subtle guava undertone. The washed process keeps it clean and bright with a soft body and a fresh finish.

How fresh is it?
We roast to order and ship within one week of your roast date. This coffee is at its best 2 to 3 weeks after roasting, so give it a few days to settle before your first brew.

What grind should I use?
A medium grind suits most filter methods. Start there, then adjust: finer if the cup tastes sharp or thin, coarser if it turns bitter. Dial in gradually for the sweetest result.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Free shipping within Malaysia on orders over RM80. Every bag is roasted fresh in Kuala Lumpur and dispatched as soon as it's ready.
