    About this coffee:

    50% Bookkisa / 50% Aromas del Valle

The idea behind our Sweetshop blend is simple: combine sweet and characterful coffee to create a fun, wildly complex and fruit-driven espresso.

This isn’t about balance and it certainly isn’t about tradition. This is about cramming as much fruit and fun into the cup as possible. We want an espresso that doesn’t taste like anything else.

    About:

Strawberry milkshake, anyone? This Sweetshop brings that creamy berry character with Bookkisa from Guji and Aromas del Valle from Cutervo, Cajamarca.

Aromas del Valle cooperative incorporates farmers across Cajamarca. However, the supply chain formed between this group and importer Nordic Approach now focuses almost completely on Cutervo, a province in Cajamarca just south of the well-known specialty areas of Jaén and San Ignacio. Cutervo, along with Chota province even further south, have piqued our interest as they offer higher growing altitudes than their neighbours to the north, but are much less well-trafficked for specialty purchases. This lot delivers Cutervo’s signature: a marvelously rich, fruity profile that will have you asking, “Are you sure this is a washed coffee?”

Bookkisa continues from our previous Sweetshop version, but takes on a fresh character with its new blend partner. Though Ture Waji’s Sookoo coffees always impress us, we are particularly loving this natural-process version as espresso this season. Creamy, lactic texture supports raspberry and red currant flavours for a shot that’s, well, a journey. Paired with this Cutervo lot from Aromas del Valle, we get chocolate mousse, cherries, and dried apricot.
