Our story · Est. 2014, Kuala Lumpur
The cup that started Bean Shipper.
Twelve years of chasing better coffee for Malaysian kitchens. Ten of them bringing in roasters from around the world, two roasting our own in Kuala Lumpur.
Bean Shipper is a specialty coffee roaster in Kuala Lumpur, founded in 2014 by two coffee lovers. For ten years we curated and shipped fresh bags from international roasters to Malaysian doorsteps, and in 2024 we started roasting our own. Today we roast around 1,200kg a month, all of it to order, with 23 partner farms across ten countries. Every bag ships within 24 hours of roasting with the roast date printed on the label, so it reaches you just before the day 7 to 30 window when coffee tastes its best, and the whole window is yours.

The long version
From curator to roaster, one bag at a time.
-
2014 · The idea
Two coffee lovers and one job.
Bean Shipper started in Kuala Lumpur with a simple job: get good, fresh coffee from abroad into Malaysian kitchens.
-
2014 to 2024 · The curator years
Ten years of shipping coffee in.
We brought in bags from roasters around the world and sent them to doorsteps across Malaysia before the beans had time to fade. That's where the name comes from.
-
2024 · Our own drum
We started roasting ourselves.
Now the coffee is roasted for your order in Kuala Lumpur, and the date goes on the bag.
-
Today · Roasted to order
About 1,200kg a month, all of it on order.
Every bag of our own coffee is dated and out the door within 24 hours of roasting. We still bring in an international roaster each month, alongside Malaysian-grown Liberica from Johor.
-
Still
From coffee lovers, for coffee lovers.
We have 250 subscribers to date, each on their own rhythm, and plenty more who pick up a bag when they need one. Either way it's the same coffee, roasted for them.
How a bag is made
Fresh isn't a word on our bag. It's a date.
Supermarket coffee shows a best-before date. Ours shows the day it was roasted.
- 01You orderPick a coffee, whole bean or ground for your brewer. Every grind is the same price.
- 02We roast itYour coffee is roasted for your order in Kuala Lumpur. That's day 0.
- 03Dated and sealedThe roast date goes on the bag, so you can check it yourself.
- 04Out the doorWithin 24 hours of roasting.
- 05Your windowCoffee tastes best from about day 7 to day 30. It reaches you before that, so the whole window is yours.
The name
Bean Shipper used to mean we shipped the world's beans in. Now it means we roast your coffee and ship it fresh.
Both are true. The second one leads.

Where we started
We still bring the world in.
Each month one roaster from abroad roasts a batch for our pre-order, and we bring it to Malaysia. Order before the cut-off, or let the Roaster Tour send you the next one.
From coffee lovers, for coffee lovers. Still.
Start with a bag. The date on it is the whole point.
