Origin
Roasted in small batches at our Kuala Lumpur roastery.

Four origins. One dark roast. Zero compromise. Black Forest is a four-origin blend where every component earns its place. Brazil brings the deep, sweet cocoa body. Peru connects the chocolate base to the brighter top notes with balanced caramel depth. Ethiopia lifts the cup out of one-dimensional heaviness with a gentle cherry sweetness. Indonesia rounds it off with earthy richness and a buttery, creamy texture.

Roasted darker than most of our range, but stopped just before the oils break through. Maximum body without char. The result is a coffee that's smooth for how dark it is.

Make The Most Of It

Brew & pairing

Our brewing tip

Espresso (ristretto): 18g in, 18g out in 28–35s for a syrupy, chocolate-and-cherry shot.
Latte / flat white: Pull the ristretto, add 150–180ml of steamed milk at 65°C. Cuts through milk beautifully.
Filter / pourover: 1:12 ratio at 93°C, medium-coarse grind, 3:30–4:00 total.

Designed to drink dark without bitterness. If you've been burned by dark roasts that tasted like ash, this is your redemption.

About This Coffee

Black Forest is named for the cup it pours: rich milk chocolate threaded with sweet, dark cherry, like the classic dessert. We blend four origins so each does a job — Brazil lays down the chocolate base and natural sweetness, Peru adds balanced body and caramel depth, Ethiopia lifts the cup with a subtle cherry brightness, and Indonesia brings earthy richness and a creamy texture.

Roasted dark in our Kuala Lumpur roastery, the blend is pushed for body and sweetness rather than sharpness, so it stays smooth and forgiving with near-zero perceived acidity. That makes it a natural partner for milk — flat whites, lattes and iced coffee — while still holding its own as a straight black brew.

How to Brew Black Forest

Espresso 1:1 ratio · 18g in, 18g out · 28–35 seconds (ristretto style)
Filter 1:12 ratio · 20g coffee · 250ml water at 93°C

If your espresso pulls too fast or tastes thin, grind a little finer; if it chokes or turns harsh, grind coarser. For filter, dial grind to land your brew between roughly 2:30 and 3:30 minutes.

How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?

At about 18g per cup, a 300g bag makes roughly 17 cups (about RM2.29 per cup) and a 1kg bag makes roughly 56 cups (about RM2.12 per cup). A 2 × 300g pack doubles the 300g bag for around 34 cups. Buy whole bean and grind fresh per brew for the best body and crema.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Black Forest better for espresso or filter?
Both. It's built as a versatile dark roast — pull it as a 1:1 ristretto-style espresso for a thick, chocolatey shot, or brew it 1:12 as filter for a smoother, lighter-bodied cup.

What does Black Forest taste like?
Rich milk chocolate and sweet dark cherry with a toffee edge, full body and a creamy mouthfeel. Acidity is very low, so it reads smooth and dessert-like rather than bright or fruity-sharp.

Is it good with milk?
Yes. The chocolate-forward, low-acidity profile cuts cleanly through milk, making rich flat whites, lattes and iced lattes. It also drinks well black if you prefer a bold, smooth cup.

How fresh is it?
We roast in Kuala Lumpur and ship to your roast date. 300g packs ship within 24 hours; 1kg packs are roasted fresh to order and ship within 1–2 working days.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — free shipping within Peninsular Malaysia on orders over RM80.
