Bean Shipper started with a simple love — tasting as many coffees as we could get our hands on. Espresso bars in Melbourne, third-wave cafés in Brooklyn, single origins from Tokyo and Oslo and Berlin. Every trip ended the same way: a duffel bag full of fresh roasts heading home to Kuala Lumpur, where almost none of it was available.
So in 2014, we made it our job.
For the first decade, we worked with the world’s best roasters — sourced their bags fresh, shipped them to Malaysian doorsteps before the beans had time to fade. We spent the off-hours visiting roasteries around the world, talking shop, sharing tips, picking up everything we could about what a great cup really takes.
In 2024, we started roasting ourselves.
Today we still curate from international roasters when something special lands. But the bag arriving at your door this week was probably in our drum on Monday — 1,200kg roasted every month, all of it on order. That’s the entire point of what we do.
