Ovidio Gomez was among the small group of producers Proud Mary was introduced to around the town of Peña Blanca in 2012. A man of few words, his gruff exterior belies a passionate soul who cares deeply for the land and his community. This lot comes from his newest farm, Los Gomitos — large sections had been abandoned by the previous owner, and after years of hard work the farm is becoming more and more productive.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?+
This lot is roasted by Proud Mary on the date shown beside the size, and ships about one week after roasting — right as the beans enter their 2-to-3-week peak. Domestic orders typically arrive 1–3 business days after dispatch.
When is the coffee at its best?+
Beans need about 5 to 7 days to degas, then hold their peak from 7 to 30 days after the roast date printed on the bag. Keep the bag sealed, somewhere dark and room-temperature — never in the fridge.
Whole bean or ground?+
Whole bean stays fresh longest, so pick that if you have a grinder. If you don't, choose the grind that matches your brewer and we grind it right after roasting.
