About This Coffee
Finca El Placer is a tiny farm of around 3,000 Pink Bourbon trees in San Agustín, Huila, in the care of Karen Burbano. The fourth generation of coffee growers in her family, Karen learned the craft from her father, Jose — a producer who was the first in his family to step into the specialty market, and who passed down every detail from picking cherries at the right ripeness to careful fermentation, drying and hand-sorting.
When Karen graduated in 2022, her parents acquired a small plot of land at a slightly higher altitude beside the family farm and put it in her hands, hoping she would carry the tradition forward. This lot is the result. Cherries are picked every 15 days at peak ripeness and fermented overnight in a hopper before being depulped the next morning. Each day's fresh pick is depulped into the fermenting mass; once picking is complete the whole batch ferments under water for 48 hours, then is rinsed and dried on a solar bed for 18 to 20 days. The result is a cup that is clean, floral and full of red-berry sweetness.

If the cup tastes thin or sour, grind a little finer; if it turns bitter or dry, grind coarser. Small adjustments make a big difference with a delicate light roast like this one.
How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?
At a filter dose of about 15 g per cup, a 250 g bag makes roughly 16 cups and a 1.5 kg bag makes around 100 cups. With a small single-origin lot like Finca El Placer, every bag is a limited window into one young producer's harvest — best enjoyed fresh while it lasts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this coffee better for filter or espresso?
Filter. This is a light roast built for pour-over and other filter methods, where its rose-hip and red-berry notes and floral acidity come through most clearly. You can pull it as espresso, but expect a bright, fruit-forward shot.
What does Finca El Placer taste like?
Clean and light-bodied, with rose hips, red berries and soft floral aromatics. It is gently sweet with a delicate acidity and a long, aromatic finish — a juicy, elegant Colombian cup rather than a heavy, chocolatey one.
How fresh is the coffee?
We roast to order and ship within one week of your roast date. For this coffee, flavour peaks two to three weeks after roasting, so there is no rush to brew the moment it arrives.
What grind should I use?
A medium grind suits most filter brewers. If the cup tastes thin or sour, grind finer; if it tastes bitter or dry, grind coarser, then adjust from there.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. We offer free shipping within Malaysia on orders over RM80.
