About This Coffee
This is Las Acacias, the 2025 Cup of Excellence #10 winner in the Traditional category. Cup of Excellence is one of coffee's most rigorous competitions, where a national jury and international judges score the very best lots a country produces in a given year. A top-ten placing puts this coffee among the finest Honduras grew that season.
The farm is a small two-hectare plot in the famed Santa Bárbara region. This winning lot went through a single anaerobic fermentation: whole cherries fermented for 72 hours in a custom cold room, then were depulped, thoroughly washed, and dried for 18 days in a solar drier, with the beans hand-sorted to remove defects. The Pacas variety is grown traditionally across Honduras, which is what earns the lot its Traditional category.
Behind the cup is Evin. Before coffee he farmed vegetables with little to show for it, then took up coffee in 2010 on the advice of his father, an experienced producer. By 2013 he had placed 12th in the Cup of Excellence, and his reputation has grown steadily ever since. We are proud to bring his work to Malaysian home brewers.
How to Brew Las Acacias
| Filter | |
| Brewing ratio | 1 : 17 |
| Ground coffee | 16g |
| Total water | 250ml |
| Water temperature | 93°C |
| Brew time | 3 minutes |
If the cup tastes thin or sour, grind a little finer to draw out more sweetness; if it turns bitter or astringent, grind coarser. As a light roast, this coffee shines on filter rather than espresso.
How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?
At roughly 15g per filter brew, a 150g bag makes about 10 cups, a 500g bag about 33 cups, and a 1kg bag around 65 cups. A Cup of Excellence lot like this is produced in tiny quantity and rarely reaches Malaysia, so every cup is a chance to taste a coffee that placed among the best in its country for the year.
