Hibiscus
How Hibiscus tastes
Brew & pairing
Forgiving across every method. Shines as a milky espresso or an easy morning pour-over. Whole bean keeps it freshest — grind just before you brew.
Roasted to order — every bag ships within 24 hours of roasting.
A Bright, Zesty Medium Roast Built for Merdeka
Hibiscus is our seasonal Merdeka blend — a medium roast that leads with marmalade sweetness, hibiscus florals and a zesty citrus lift. Ethiopian and Peruvian arabica carry the brightness; Malaysian Liberica grounds it with the body and aromatic depth that make it unmistakably ours. Built for filter, and lively enough to pull as a bright espresso.
Tasting Notes
Marmalade · Hibiscus · Zesty

About This Coffee
Merdeka is a good moment to put three countries in one bag. Ethiopia brings the florals and the tea-like lift that make hibiscus the obvious name for this cup. Peru adds a rounder citrus sweetness — the marmalade note, bitter-sweet and jammy rather than sharp. Malaysian Liberica does the anchoring: a bean grown here, with the body and low-toned aroma that stop a bright blend from feeling thin.
We roast it medium on purpose. Take it lighter and the Liberica loses its weight; take it darker and the florals disappear under roast. Medium is where all three still speak — zesty and aromatic up front, sweet through the middle, with just enough body to hold up to milk if that is how you drink it. A seasonal cup for anyone who wants something brighter than the everyday house blend.
How to Brew Hibiscus
| Espresso | 1:2 ratio, 18g in for 36g out in 28-32 seconds |
| Filter | 1:15 ratio, water at 93°C |
If your espresso tastes sharp or thin, grind a little finer; if it tastes harsh or dry, grind coarser. For filter, dial the grind to land a 3 to 4 minute brew.
How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?
At about 18g per cup, a 300g bag makes roughly 16 cups — around RM2.81 a cup. The 2 x 300g pack gives you about 33 cups at RM2.58 each, and the 1kg bag around 55 cups at RM2.53. Seasonal, so it is here while the harvest lasts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hibiscus better for espresso or filter?
Filter shows it best — the marmalade sweetness and hibiscus florals have room to open up, and the citrus stays clean. As espresso it pulls bright and juicy, which suits anyone who likes a lively shot rather than a chocolatey one.
What does Hibiscus taste like?
Marmalade up front, hibiscus florals through the middle, and a zesty citrus finish. Medium body, bright acidity, sweet-tart rather than roasty.
Why is it called a Merdeka blend?
It is our seasonal blend for Malaysia’s independence day, and it is built around a Malaysian-grown Liberica alongside Ethiopian and Peruvian arabica. Three origins, one cup, roasted here in Kuala Lumpur.
How fresh is the coffee?
We roast to order in Kuala Lumpur, and every bag ships within 24 hours of roasting. Beans are at their best 7 to 30 days after the roast date printed on the bag.
Do you offer free shipping?
Free shipping within Peninsular Malaysia on orders over RM80, and East Malaysia over RM150.
