First Roast is how we keep great coffee out of the bin. The first roast of a new coffee doesn't always land perfectly on profile — when it's a little off our internal spec, we'd rather pass the saving on to you than waste it. Every bag is still 100% specialty-grade, defect-free coffee that makes a genuinely good cup, well above any supermarket bag.

Why is it discounted?
These are first-roast lots that didn't quite hit our internal quality target. They're still specialty-grade and defect-free — we discount them rather than let good coffee go to waste.
Which coffee will I get?
It rotates batch to batch depending on which coffee we were dialling in. That's part of the fun — and the saving.
How should I brew it?
It makes a great everyday cup across filter and espresso, and we especially recommend it for cold brew.
