About This Coffee
The Reis family has farmed Rancho Grande since 1933, when Aneite Reis inherited five hectares of coffee in the hills of Tres Pontas. Today his son José Carlos and grandson Flávio — known as Fafa — run the farm alongside cattle for dairy and meat, with several team members living on-site.
The family has invested heavily in quality, building static drying boxes that lift the consistency of every lot and paying close attention to growing, picking and post-harvest. This Yellow Bourbon lot is fully natural processed and cups at an SCA score of 83.75 — a clean, sweet expression of classic Brazilian coffee.
How to Brew Brazil Rancho Grande
| Espresso | 1:1.6 ratio — 18g in, 30g out, 25–33 seconds |
| Filter | 1:15 ratio — 18g coffee to 250ml water at 93°C |
If the shot runs fast or tastes thin, grind a little finer; if it drags or turns bitter, grind coarser.
How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?
A 300g bag makes roughly 20 cups at espresso strength, and a 1kg bag makes around 65 cups — enough to live with this coffee for weeks and get to know how it shifts from your first pull to your last. Naturally processed single-origin lots like this are roasted in small batches, so each bag is its own moment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Brazil Rancho Grande better as espresso or filter?
Both work, but it shines as espresso. The natural processing and medium roast pull a syrupy, chocolatey shot that holds up brilliantly in milk. As filter it stays sweet and smooth with caramel and cocoa.
What does it taste like?
Caramel sweetness, clean cocoa and a touch of juicy peach. The body is full and syrupy, the acidity is low, and the finish is long and chocolatey — a classic crowd-pleasing Brazilian profile.
How fresh is it?
We roast in Kuala Lumpur and ship fast. 300g packs ship within 24 hours; 1kg packs are roasted fresh to order and ship within 1–2 working days.
Is this a good coffee for someone new to specialty?
Yes. It is sweet, smooth and low in acidity with hardly any bite, which makes it an easy first step into single-origin coffee while still rewarding experienced palates.
