About This Coffee

Viani is a small town in Cundinamarca, a short drive down from Bogotá. This lot is a community effort: cherry from more than 400 small farms across five municipalities is gathered at three collection points, then carefully sorted to lift quality year after year. The move to GrainPro storage and stricter sorting has raised the cup and, just as importantly, put more income into the hands of the growers.

The main collection point in Sierra town handles around 70% of the harvest. Farmers arrive with wet and dry parchment, the quality and weight are checked, a price is agreed and they are paid in cash on the spot before heading home with a fresh empty bag to refill. Most of these are multi-crop family farms, growing plantain and avocado alongside coffee — the avocado trees shade the coffee and spread the household’s income risk.

Recent seasons have been hard: near-daily rain has cut Viani’s production by roughly half compared with two years ago, which makes fair pricing and steady demand more important than ever. Buying this coffee helps keep these small farms viable.

How to Brew Colombia Viani

Two recipes pulled straight from this coffee — a sweet, intense espresso and a clean, full-bodied filter.

Espresso
Brewing ratio 1 : 2.3
Ground coffee 19g
Espresso output 45g
Brew time 25–35 seconds
Filter
Brewing ratio 1 : 17
Ground coffee 16g
Total water 260ml
Water temperature 93°C
Brew time 3 minutes

If the cup tastes thin or sour, grind a little finer; if it turns harsh or bitter, grind coarser.

How Much Coffee Is in a Bag?

A 250g bag brews around 16 filter cups at 16g per cup, and a 1kg bag makes roughly 65 cups — plenty of mornings to settle into this rich, old-world Colombian and find your favourite way to brew it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Colombia Viani better for espresso or filter?
Both. It is a versatile coffee: pull it as a sweet, intense espresso at 1:2.3, or brew it as a clean, full-bodied filter at 1:17. The recipes above are great starting points for each.

What does Colombia Viani taste like?
Stonefruit, cocoa and grape. It is big and rich with just a slight bit of acidity and a smooth, chocolatey finish — a classic, comforting Colombian rather than a bright, fruity one.

How fresh is the coffee?
We roast to order in Kuala Lumpur and ship within one week of your roast date. These beans hit their peak around two to three weeks after roasting, so there is no rush to brew.

Is it a light roast?
Yes. It is roasted light for filter and espresso, which keeps the natural sweetness and body of the coffee intact while letting the cocoa and stonefruit come through.

Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Free shipping within Malaysia on orders over RM80.
